Re: hear vocals during playback w/o actually recording them?
Come again? Wouldn't ya need to record vocals to hear vocals during playback?
Now, if you aim to monitor vocals while recording other trax, just set up a mono bus and set its input to a mic input. Any help? Live in Texas, Esteban.

Come to think of it, sometimes I do hear voices.

Re: hear vocals during playback w/o actually recording them?
If you mean is there a way to hear vocals during recording, without recording the vocals, just set up an aux for the vocals instead of an audio track.....

Re: hear vocals during playback w/o actually recording them?
thanks guys, i can see I wasn't real clear. sorry!
when I'm rehearsing a take, here's what happens. i set up the vocals just how i want them with effects, etc. to hear the vocals effected, of course, i have the track armed to record. but then i hit the space bar, stuff (midi parts, other audio) starts playing. the vocal automatically cannot be heard at all. Unless, that is, I record it as audio, by turning on the red button in the transport. i am wondering whether there is a way to hear the effected vocal for rehearsal against the rest of the composition without actually recording the vocal rehearsal as an audio file. thoughts appreciated!

Try going to the "Operations" menu and selecting "Input Only Monitoring" or just de-selecting "Auto Input Monitoring" can't remember which. Give em' both a try and see what happens.

"Option + K" will toggle between auto input and input only.
