Re: So when will 6.2 be available for the rest of us
PT 6.2 was released to provide support for Accel cards. It is specific to that and as such will not be a general release.

Re: So when will 6.2 be available for the rest of
This is just an interim release specifically to add support for the Accel card, the same as PT 5.3 Mac was a release to add support for the initial release of HD. It is not the end of development for all other systems.

Re: So when will 6.2 be available for the rest of
Hello. I just want to make absolutely sure I understand all details. 6.2 is TDM HD ACCEL only for now, that much you have made clear. However, what is not clear is if 6.2 is going to be released any time soon to all other systems, or if the next version for all systems will be 6.3 or above. Please clear that little detail up for us. Thank you.

Re: So when will 6.2 be available for the rest of
Pro Tools TDM 6.2 software, which ships with all Pro Tools|HD systems and cards, is the first release to support the new HD Accel cards. Pro Tools 6.2 combines the impressive 6.1 feature set with support for the new, 16-input 96i I/O audio interface for Pro Tools|HD, Windows Media Audio 9 and Windows Media Audio 9 Pro import and export (Windows XP systems only), specialized plug-ins, and other features.
So unless you buy an HD Accel card or a 96i, or need Windows Media 9 support, this release is not for you. -Eric |

The track punch functionality being previewed at IBC is not part of the Pro Tools 6.2 feature set. This will be added to Pro Tools in a future software release. |

Number games...
If 6.2 is an interim release for HD ACCEL and 96i with no further improvements it shouldn't have been named 6.2 but rather 6.1.1 or 6.1.2.
In the world of software, the first digit marks a major update with many new features and often a GUI update as well, the second (.x) digit marks an update with some new features (like Rewire in 6.1 or support for a new technology) and the third digit (.x.X) a compability or bug release. Clearly, PT 6.2 falls into the third category as HD ACCEL isn't a new core platform. But there's one smart thing: since 6.2 probably wont support OSX 10.3 we can ALL move to PT 6.3 in a few months time and OSX.3 and PT 6.3 will be matched numbers! pv |
