Digitest Failure- HD Core- What should I do?
Just bought a used PCI HD Core card. Failed digitest- only one item in the results:
TDM-II Memoy Test (PIO A Pge1) DSP E : Failed - Fail @ address 8395933; expected: -1864136, got: -81560. Any input as to how to proceed greatly appreciated. Have an uncle that can handle the repairs- one of his duties at his workplace- if I can tell him what to repair/replace... Thanks, Doug |

Chances of repairing this is almost none! It's small format components and impossible to replace without very specialist working inviroment and tools. The fault is the memory on chip 5. I've had this fault on prcess cards and they still work, but some plugins that open on that chip will not function correctly and make noises etc. Can't you return it? I think Avid may do a trade in repair/replace, but not sure if it needs to be registered etc Chris

Re: Digitest Failure- HD Core- What should I do?
Suppose I could just return it, but thought I'd check here for input first. For $150, I might just keep it if it's usable as is.
Can I disable the faulty processor somehow..? |

Only way to do so is with pro tools open just click on chip 5 And it will be disabled and no plugins will open on that chip. Try running a session first and load up all the chips and see what happens? I found it was only plugins that use ram that would have trouble using the chips with faulty ram. Delay plugins and some big reverb plugs etc. Most other processing type plugins would open fine. Chris
