Buying old version of PT?

So the dividing line goes when PT moved from DigiDesign brand (up to PT8) to Avid brand (PT9 and later). DigiDesign licenses are freely transferable, but Avid licenses need pre-approval.

Which means if you want to legally buy and sell PT9 and later licenses, you must go through Avid's Transfer of Ownership process. Whether or not it requires active Support and Update Plan for PT9 when such plan was not available at the time, that I do not know. But until Avid approves your transfer, iLok will not be able to do it.

That helps, thanks. I found a couple of official German shops that sell new and unactivated PT9 keys with full warranty. I'll look into the requirements by Avid before considering that.

If it is unregistered and unused code, it should work as you would be the original owner

Keep in mind that PT 9 and 10 is not compatible w/windows10. You need to run W7.

Short update in case anyone cares: digi002 console is working perfectly with PT10. Only my old Waves installer was not compatible with PT10 and give loads of errors. I bought Diamond bundle on the latest Waves for PT10.3 (Waves 9.6) and got the SSL G eq for free too, working perfectly.

So did you find PT10 somewhere or bought PT9 and then reinstated Support and Update Plan and therefore now have a current license?
