Question Monitoring my input in pt9

Hi

Now I know input monitoring is a HD feature but is there a way to play what I've recorded and practise a take through pro tools and hear it at the same time I've heard people mention input mode but I'm not familiar with this feature

thanks

If ur referring to hearing the take @ the same time that u practice it, then input monitoring isn't gonna help u.. U need to set an OX track to the same input as the track that ur recording...

I have all my guitar tracks routed to a guitar sub mix so all I have to do is set the input of that sub mix to say for example input 1 if that is the input my guitar is in then I could monitor my practises

thanks

No, because that would cut off the feed of your guitars. Just create a new AUX.

Why wouldnt input monitoring work? I thought thats what it was for.

All i do (for example)

- Create one audio track with rhythm guitar
- Create a second audio track, arm it for recording but dont hit the global record button.
- Alt K, then spacebar

I can hear the rhythm track i played as well as the guitar i am playing. That way i can make up lead parts while listening to the rhythm.

Then hit global record button to lay down the lead, once thats done, disarm the track and i can hear both played back...

Andy, 1st off, we're talkin, or @least the practicing the part, not overdubbing with another part; so whilst Auto input monitoring is there of course, if u are practicing or playing|singing down with that part for a punch in, u cannot here it if ur in Auto input mode... so why hav 2 tracks for that?
