Hp xw4600

Hi All,

I am looking at an HP XW4600 for my HD3 PCI and have the following questions:

1- It has 3 PCI slots, is it qualified for HD3 PCI?

2- It has several PCI-E slots, can I down the road use it with Magma Expansion both PCI or PCI-E? That is PCI or PCI-E host card for PCI expansion.

3- What are the advantages of Quad Core vs Core 2 Duo for TDM, I notice Core 2 Duo has faster speeds. Is Quad more of 64bit advantage.

I've been using an HP XW-4600 ( Quad core Q9550 ) for nearly a year now. It works GREAT, fast and very reliable. It's a Digi approved machine so yes it will work with your HD3 PCI.

If we're talking the same machines, why? There are much better options out there if you need a PRO computer for a windows-based DAW, this isn't one I would come to. What are you using now and what leads you to an HP computer?

Need 3 PCI looking at used XW8400, Used XW8200 and XW4600 still in production. Must have PCI, see my other post on XW8200. Brad, are there 3 PCI in production today?

Ok I'm looking at one of these machines hp xw4600 quad core with 4 gig of ram. Now I no these are qualified by avid and they have 3 pci slots so this means I can use the old pci cards which is what I'm looking to buy to run a pt 9 HD3 system can anyone chime in to let me no there views or if they are using one how well it's working or if anyone has had probs with these
