Re: Live stereo file very low level...??
I would use the limiter to get all the gain change required before bouncing it to it's Final state. Why would you do the gain change later? That's what the limiter is for in this case.

Live stereo file very low level...??
I have here a stereo recording of a live performance printed straight from the FOH console to a CD burner in real time.
I've transferred the audio from the CDr into PT digitally (into stereo 24-bit files), and its level is really low. So, I've chosen to keep it as it is and bus the two channels to a stereo master where I will use a limiter, compressor, etc., to 'remix' it. At this point I'm not really adding very much level, not doubling it, but just getting a fuller sound and evening out the ensemble a bit. I figure that I'll do 24-bit, two-file (PT) bounces and -then- do a gain change to bring it up to a decent level. Now, I could have done ana analog transfer thru nice preamps into PT for more level at the outset, or I could have done a gain change or normalization early on, before doing this other 'remix' stuff... So what I want to know is: What would YOU do? Thanks, steveV |
