assigned midi control absent

I've done this more than a handful of times.. I'm quite lost as to why it's not working. I'm using xpand2. It's on an instrument track. I have some midi recorded. I'm using the little, drop down just under the track to show controls (velocity, pan etc). I want to use cutoff and resonance. So I right click the knobs on xpand and see they are assigned. I go to the controls drop down where, instead of cutoff and resonance sitting at the position the midi knob display read (cutoff showed 74 for example), both positions show as undefined. I'm used to finding them where xpand tells me they will be, adding them to the track and having at it. Any help with finding why this is happening is appreciated. I can't find anything on my own online. Thanks.

problem solved. How does one delete or close a thread. I have been looking, reading and trying things with no success.
