Default Re: Behringer ADA8000 (BLA)

They actually do a ADA8000 mod. I emailed Black Lion Audio about getting my 002R Signature Modded, and I told them about my Behringer ADA8000. They said they'll mod it for $225 and it will sound like somebody pulling a blanket off of my monitors, and it will sound way better than it already does. I'm actually thinking about it, but I am also getting a Focusrite Octopre MK II to take the place of the ADA8000. The Octopre is online for $379. Super cheap.

I'm surprised BLA doesn't offer a D8 mod.

After all they are supposed to have a discrete Class A Preamp section. Should be easy.

the ada8k's have the wavefront chips in them, same exact as the alesis hd24. Theirs lots of info about them on diyaudio, but except for the
cheap pots and simple mic pre's there is not much too them. I have 3. I can tell you that only is there like a 3% difference on the output compared to my lavry blue. And that 99.999% of the rest of the world would
never hear it's difference. My only issues, is that QC on the pots requires adjustment for i/o looped interfaces.
Other than that, I've said many times it's one of those behringer products that doesn't suck at all. Unless you include a hd24 @300 of ebay, it's still the cheapest way to get up to 32 solid i/o's into a machine. (most mods I know of only change the opamps, which is what you year, better slew rates so
more highend. I wouldn't say persay all the time that's better. Sure any highend addition in anyway will sound like a blanket off.)
A older rme9652 dsp is better than the lightbridge but a couple hundred more and if you don't need the dsp pre mixing for h/p sends, a lightbridge works fine. Except that they are infinitely more picky about dropouts and m-audio definitely should work on the driver, if not to fix performance issues hopefully add dsp routing too.
