Default 9.0.2 and updated 003 drivers, but no mbox 2 pro driver update?

Just wondering maybe if DTS might be able to chime in here. I filed a case ages ago with tech support regarding what appear to be driver issues with the mbox 2 pro with any version of pro tools under windows 7 64bit since the first release (8.0.4). The issues are these; often, when opening a session the mbox does not seem to spring into life, the lights are on but nobody is home. The session will playback but no sound comes from the interface. I found the only way to get it to work was to open a certain session that always seemed to work off the bat. It still happens on occasion, but is a bit random. The other issue is when using the mbox as the main sound card for the computer. Sound comes out fin using itunes, windows media player etc, but if you pause the audio or video then it won't resume afterwards. I've confirmed this with other mbox 2 pro users on the forum also. But just to be clear, this Is only when using the interface outside of pro tools.

I was told by avid support that this was reproduced and would be in a future fix...but that was mid last year from memory. Any word on this? I'll post my Sandra bellow as well, for completeness

I have an 003R+ as well as an MBox 2 Pro. As I understand, you are correct. They only recently updated the drivers for the 003 family. I don't think the issues they were looking to fix applied to th MBox 2.

That said, I have not tried my MBox 2 Pro with PT 9.02 yet.

Thanks for your input. I've tried 9.0.2 out with my mbox 2 pro today and still the issue persists, as I assumed it would.

Sure would be great if someone from Avid would be able to drop by...

Some shots in the dark since nobody's responding:
Does disabling any and all other audio devices on your pc (maybe through BIOS?) change this behavior?
Have you tried the legacy Windows firewire driver?
Is energy savings disabled on the firewire adapter?

That you can fix it by opening a certain session is a head scratcher.

I'll be using my MB2Pro this week with sessions I just recorded via my 003 and I'll see how it behaves. I'll try the WMP thing too. I'm running W7x64SP1.

Wierd. I was able to reproduce the WMP playback issue if I paused then minimized it. I'll try that with the 003 next time it's connected.

I spent 30 minutes or so in Protools and the MB2Pro worked fine.

I don't know ...

Unfortunately I'm away on site working this week, so am unable to try out your suggestions at present. I have disabled all other audio devices on my pc in the device manager, not sure if it would make a whole lot of difference doing it from the BIOS? But if you reckon it's worth a shot I may give it a whirl when I get home next week.
I don't remember using the legacy firewire driver...but will my MB2Pro actually still work using this?
I have gone through and optimized my pc according to Avids optimizations for W7, don't remember there being anything in there about disabling power saving on firewire...I didn't even know there was that option?

Thanks for testing that out for me. Yeah, I heard from an Avid service dude that they were able to reproduce the WMP playback issue and would be in a future fix...but I'm just wondering if there's been any progress on that or not...

Yeah, the issue with it only giving me sound when opening a specific session seems odd. When I open that session I hear a pop through my headphones and the lights flash on the MB2Pro...almost like it engages at that point, even though it's already on and can play system sounds prior to opening PT. Wierd...
