Older thread, but I have a question.
Will Eq match work in the following example :
In one scene, actor A speaks a sentence and it is from a lav, but of a muddy quality (no boom available), just seconds later there is a nice close up of actor A and he speaks a completely different sentence, with brilliant boom quality.
Can an Eq match analyze the second sentence and the frequency content of this voice in general and then apply an Eq curve to the muddy lav ?
I ask, bcause in your example the ADR and the production audio should be the same words.

Thanks,
Joachim

Hi Joachim

Yes I do exactly that all the time and it can work really well. Sometimes it can bring up a lot of hiss on a really muddy Lav, but on most match eq's you can tweak to taste after the matching process.

Its also fun to match to some of your favourite sounding dialogue clips from different films etc.
I have a small collection of DX that I keep for that very purpose and for reference in different rooms.

I find the new Eventide Equivocate plug-in works really well for matching and it was free when I got it, so you can't get better than that.

Cheers
Martin

Thanks Martin, for the recommendation !
Eventide did not show up in a google search for "match eq".
Good to know, that you use it for dialog.

No problem Joachim.
You can automate Equivocate as well, so its a bit easier to use than to-ing and fro-ing to RX. It doesn't 'bake' the process in either.
