Default unable to access software updater message?

Has anyone ever encountered this? I'm on 10.8.4 with a new imac 2.9 GHZ Intel core i5
8 gb 1600 Mhz ram. PT 10.3.5
When ever I open pro tools, I get the dialogue saying "unable to access software updater, etc"
Thanks!
Kenneth

Try moving this file to a different location, like your documents folder or someplace other than where it is currently:
/Applications/Avid/Pro Tools/SoftwareUpdater.app

I'm looking for a solution to the same problem.

I'm on OS 10.6.8 with PT 10.3.6.

Moving the file didn't help.

EDIT:
I just tried executing the softwareupdater within the SoftwareUpdater package and here's the reason why it won't open:
"Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/CFnd.framework/Versions/A/CFnd
Referenced from: /Applications/Avid/Pro Tools/SoftwareUpdater.app/Contents/MacOS/SoftwareUpdater
Reason: Incompatible library version: SoftwareUpdater requires version 10.3.6 or later, but CFnd provides version 9.0.6"

So I assume that it's because we've upgraded from version 9.0.6 (I know I have) and the "CFnd.framework/Versions/A/CFnd"-thingy has been left in the old version.

How to fix that?

Ok. This error occurs after installing PT10 or 11 on top of previously installed versions. Before installing an upgrade (which in this case are clean installations), it clearly says to uninstall the previous version before installing the new one. I failed to absorb that as I'm sure the OP did.

Unstalling (Choose the "Clean uninstall" option!) and re-installing the software solves the problem.

(The problem is addressed in another thread as well.)

FYI... we have this documented here but please let us know if "unable to access software updater" is actually part of the error dialog you are seeing and we can update the article. Thanks!
