macbook pro mid 2014 2.8ghz
Anyone running a macbook pro mid 2014 2.8ghz for audiopost work?
Im looking at replacing my late 2011, I run a late 2011 at the moment.. which does struggle with the amount of plugins I run.. Can I run a few Revibes and plenty of NR generally w43 and WNS... (Izotope dialouge de-noiser has been mothballed as I HATE how it sounds) Im finally starting to mix more 5.1 so if I can run 100 tracks and plenty of busses Ill be happy.. cheers Mark

Hard to say, but I run a Mac Pro 6,1 that gets a score of 20,667 here:
http://browser.primatelabs.com/mac-benchmarks -make sure to click on 64-bit multi-core- and I run 5.1 sessions that typically only use 20-30% of the computer (measured on the PT system usage scale) So in theory (and that's a very big in theory), your laptop with a score of 14,597 should run the same session in the 30-40% range. But, the Mac Pro is much faster at other things, and I don't run anywhere near as much realtime NR as you do, on the other hand, I run a lot of reverbs and have processing on every channel.

Re: macbook pro mid 2014 2.8ghz
Back in PT10, I saw computers that had almost the same total score but were 4 core vs 8 core, and the higher core machines always ran more smoothly.
I haven't had the chance to perform the same test in PT12, but PT12 is way more efficient on the same chips. Huge improvement.

Re: macbook pro mid 2014 2.8ghz
Hi there,
I use a Macbook Pro Mid 2014 2,2Ghz to edit at home. It plays big 5.1 sessions with more than 200 tracks and lots of plugins (izotope, unveil...) just flawlessly. I'm happy with it. Cheers Maik |
