Firefox losing add-ons all of a sudden
On both of my Macs here Firefox started losing some of it's add-ons seemingly all on it's own. Apparently they're getting serious with add-on signing but as a result they're screwing up add-ons that are signed and designating them as legacy. Did some digging and found these two pages:
https://forums.informaction.com/view...100053#p100053 and: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=19825830 Applied stuff from both and my FF add-ons seem to be back to working. Worried me that Privacy Badger and No Script both bit the dust because of this. But I have them back now. |

Re: Firefox losing add-ons all of a sudden
A hot fix for the expired extension's certificate issue was implemented yesterday. (Quietly in the background) I noticed ABP and NoScript were working again yesterday morning.
Issue is fixed in the latest release; Firefox 66.0.4 https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo.../releasenotes/ Most extensions, themes and what have you should be fine now. For anything Fox related the Mozillazine Forums are still the best resource; http://forums.mozillazine.org/ Boy, it's been a while since I was a regular there... Good times. T

I tend to not run the latest versions of FF because they keep removing features so I did the fix manually. Also turned off Normandy in about:config to hopefully keep the hounds at bay. One of my big peeves with FF is they removed the ability to not have a tab bar when there's only one tab and there's no longer an add-on to do that that works in FF (hasn't been since just after FF 46 IIRC). |
