Absolutely. This is Avid's promise since the start of subscriptions.

  • 7/31/2018 2018.7 Search in I/O's, Plug-ins, and Busses, Menu Multi-Select, Playlist Navigation Improvements, Relative Grid Enhancements, Edit Selection Improvements, Duplicate and Extend Edit, Retrospective MIDI Enhancements, Low Latency Monitoring Enhancements
  • 1/24/2018 2018.1 Track Presets, Target Playlist, Retrospective MIDI, Arrow key MIDI Editing, Mix Window EQ Curves, Improved Import Session Data
Um, I admit in retrospect, that's pretty good. If 2019, so over 12 months, brings so much, I continue.
I thought so too..... it improves an already fantastic workflow... not sure when it came in but also the search feature within the help menu is pretty useful too.

Still would like to AUX send some umber-eats but I can wait :)

I believe the NAMM announcement was that 2019 is expected to drop in March.

But I did not see anything for vanilla. We do not know what to think. But Avid announced HD features, not vanilla. We would think of something else if we were in a different setting than the subscription (and the expense). But vanilla users also pay. To be continued...

It is not, but it's important if not even more for those on that train. What we all agree is that compatibility shouldn't be an issue at all.

Off the top of my head, wasn't doubling the midi track count for all users, not just Ultimate?

BTW... announced at NAMM PT 2019 may have been, but still not a word about it on the Avid website. Not even on the NAMM page. Quite bizarre - we'll tell you about our next version, but only if you live in LA and turn up in person.

What about the feature that plugins etc can be added "live" during playback. This is for Vanilla too. I assume it would take a lot of effort to write this into Pro Tools and there might be other benefits into the future. ARA support coming??

I for one would like it if they slowly passed down some features from Ultimate to Vanilla like the additional automation features. Hint hint. Maybe they could pass down some of the older features and keep the newer ones exclusive to Ultimate to keep everyone happy.

I'm afraid that Ultimate customers have more weight than vanilla customers. Vanilla must easily outperform Ultimate in numbers, but Ultimate is tied to Avid's physical hardware. Personally, I understand that. In addition, I think that with Avid, we are never surprised by more novelties, but always by less novelty than expected. Conclusion: if Avid does not talk about vanilla, it's because vanilla must pass her turn. There will be nothing in the first quarter of 2019.
