Mbox 2 has been available almost since its announcement, I saw it at Guitar Center last week.

Mbox2 was qualified only with Service Pack 2. Most likely you need at least service pack 1, as there were known issues with noise static with the previous Mbox when customers did not have at least Service Pack 1 installed.
Our suggestion would be to install Service Pack 2, which should fix the problem.
