Default Connecting Motu 896 to Digi 003 Rack via ADAT

Hi, I am trying to get some use out of the 8 tracks of my Motu 896 by routing them thru my Digi 003 Rack to record them in ProTools.

My problem is that I'm not getting any signal from the Motu to the Digi / ProTools

What I have done so far:

- Powering up and connecting both units to my computer via Firewire
- Connect the Motu to the Digi via Toslink. Out to In, In to Out. Both lit up.
- Set both Sample rates to 48
- Set the Digi Optical Format to ADAT
- Set the Digi clock source to Optical
- Select ADAT 1 Mono as the input in ProTools
- Doublechecking the Mic and the Motu Preamp etc.
- Pray

Help me. Haha. I need to record drums, and since Digidesign is so ungenerous on their Preamps, I need those extra tracks badly. Thanks for all input.

Bjoern.

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the identical problem, with the identical hardware. Would love to know how to solve it.
Thanks

Powering up and connecting both units to my computer via Firewire

First off, did you power up and THEN connect the FW cables? BIG oops. Firewire is NOT hot-swappable and doing so will usually fry things.
