Default Robot Voices

Any one know of any programs or plugs that generate good Robot style voices.
I've used the Mac Voice a bit, and the Virus Vocoder, but apart from that I'm not sure what is available.
Sometimes I hear these great voice effects on TV and wonder how the hell they made them.

purepitch by wave mechanics, I used to just use it to freak out the vocalist, like change gender, robot effect etc. Quite good, there is a demo

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">purepitch is good, but kind of limited in the robot department.
Orange Vocoder is much better for this. i used it for Silon voices once and it worked great whereas the Purepitch just couldn't quite match it. not even very close actually.

Hi,

I use an analog Roland SVC-350.
Worth it's weight in gold. Literally.

Not really a direct answer, but tc electronics FireworX has a good robot patch, and there's a really cool, inexpensive vocal box by Roland, I believe it's called the VT-1 or something, that turns voices into robots, with little sliders to control pitch, formant, etc. Stores typically don't carry it, but Roland still makes it.

It's worth it's weight in gold. Figuratively.

All these suggestions work - incredibly expensive KYMA notwithstanding .

You might also try to grab one of those speak and spell toys on e-bay. they're pretty cool!

Hve you tried SimpleText on the Mac? It comes with lots of voices. Bruce and Fred are robot-like voices. Use Zarvox if you want a castrated robot sound.
