Default iLok Issues on macbook and PC! HELP!

Hello, I am new here and hope to find some guidance with my iLok issues.
I have a brand new version of M-Powered Pro Tools installed on my home PC with windows XP home and on my macbook pro with OS X 10.4.11. I am also using a m-audio fast track pro interface.
I have a ILok account and the key lights up green when it is placed into the USB ports. All ports work fine and Pro Tools should be able o recognize the key just fine. However, as soon as I start up Pro Tools I can't skip the authorization and if I try to authorize I get the following message: No ILok can't be found, please insert ILok for the installed software.
Also, when I am trying to synchronize the key on my ILok account I receive an error message that no key can be found. Since the key has not been working in either PC or Macbook does this mean the key came "dead" out right the box? Where do I go from here? What are my options? Do I need to purchase a new key? Do I have to pay for a new authorization in order to use Pro Tools? Help! I am lost! Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated,
