Default Recording patch bank changes- Help!

Could someone tell me if there is a way to record patch/bank changes on LE?

So far I've only done it by accident but i know it can be done manually but not in record mode like automation etc... There is a selection for program change events in the edit window of the midi track. This view will allow you to see the program changes on the time line. Once you get to that point use the pencil tool to click on the timeline where you want the program change and select the patch from the pop-up patch list and click done.
(see 6.7 ref manual page 389 & 390)
