Default 9073 on 6.1 no compressed folders, no SP2,

Months ago I came across 9073 errors. I couldnt open the files and play them back for two seconds without getting that error. What I did was back the sessions (and audio) on cd and load it on a mc running 6.1 and 001. Everything worked fine.

Now I'm getting 9073 again and it started after this happened:

http://duc.digidesign.com/showflat.p...fpart=1#752304

I did a search on the duc for 9073 errors. I'm not running service pack 2 nor do I have compressed folders. This system has no internet access and doesn't have anti virus software. I've placed the audio on seperate drives and that doesnt work. I've placed the audio and sessions on seperate drives and that doesn't work. I've tried consolidating the files and that doesn't work.

What my system does is kind of strange. It will play back the session for around 15-30 minutes. After that it will take a while to playback once I press start. After that I'll press play and the play and stop icons on the transport will turn blue and freeze. After that I get the message over and over again. So I reboot and everything works for 15-30 minutes and starts all over. I no linger have access to the mac I did have access to so thats out of the picture.

Here are my system specs:

amd xp 1700
ausus a7v8x-x
80 gig western digital with 8 mb cache 7200 rpm
160 gig maxtor with 8 mb cache and 7200 rpm
512 mb kingston ddr 2700
zalman fan
cd burner
dvd rom
floppy
Windows xp professional (service pack 1)
Pro tools 6.1

any help is appreciated.

My apologies. The 9073 error tells me:

Dae can’t get audio from the drive(s) fast enough. Your drive may be too slow or fragmented, or a firewire drive could be having trouble due to the extra firewire bandwidth or cpu load

I have a digi design approved fire wire card. I've changed wires, slots and tried both firewire slots on the digi 002r. I'm still getting the problem.

Thanks for looking/replying

Hi,

Take a look at the information in these Answerbase articles, ID 26421 and ID 28684 they may be helpful. If not provide more information about your audio drives.
Thanks,

I've looked at those pages before and they dont seem to solve the problem. What type of drive info do you need? Both drives are 7200 rpm drives with 8mb cache. What other info do you require?

Just for the heck of it, take off the firewire harddisk, and try recording to your systemdisk....

Maybe the 2 firewire devices on the one card is too much.

I am recording to the system disk. I have three drives in total. Two internal and one external firewire. The firewire drive that I do have does not get connected unless I'm backing up the system and to be honest I never thought about recording to it anyway. It's used for backup only.

Maybe your disk got stuck in PIO-mode.

Only now i followed the link to your earlier problem. I noticed you deleted ILOK and Pace stuff. That is not only poart of the copyp[rotection of te plugins, but also of ptle itself. I suggest you backup your system, uninstall everyting protools related, and install it again. If you are getting vague messages that your software "needs a newer driver" you need to go to http://www.paceap.com/download.html and download the newest ILOK-drivers.

Ya, I had this nightmare way way back. Here is my old thread with the solution. This took me a very longtime to findout what it was. Ended up being a faulty WD Audio drive that actually worked for other programs. Since the drive seemed to work, it caused a huge nightmare and shrunk my brain abit Hope this helps.
