Drawmer Dynamics in AAX?

Just got this answer from Drawmer and I want to say THANK YOU to Kieron for taking time and answering truthfully and to the point:

I've seen the thread and thank you for the love!

Unfortunately this is out of our hands, Ivor Drawmer did the original DSP code and the graphics were done in house (around 15yrs ago...) after a couple of years of production all support was taken over by Digi who did the updates and handled technical support. the plugin was ported upwards until the AAX came along where we missed the cut, due to it looking dated and sales had dwindled. This is where it still stands unless Avid change their minds. We do have some work done on newer plugs written by Ivor but unfortunately they are on hold at the moment while we concentrate on new hardware.

Thanks again for the interest, sorry it wasn't more positive news.

The code base of this plug-in is that old that it would take a lot of time to port this over, a hell of a lot of time that is.
Don't ask me why I know, I know.

It seems that no one is willing to put this development effort into this plug-in, which by the way is one of my all time favorites.

I guess that a heavy upgrade fee option may convince those who are making the decisions. Maybe someone should start a poll somewhere...

I'd certainly pay some kind of reasonable upgrade fee for what it's worth… I really hate plugins becoming EOL'd.

The problem lies in the difference between what the seller thinks is reasonable and what the buyer thinks is....

I just think that because Avid has said they have the source code (TDM assembly) it means Avid will do the port if someone ever does. And right now Avid has their hands full of waaaaaaaaaayyyy more important things to do, so while we can certainly hope we should not hold our breaths.

In the meantime..... the new Pro Expander is pretty damn good.
