I just installed UJAM Amber and thought the same thing at first; that it wasn't showing as an instrument.

I then saw this thread :

and sure enough the track I was using was a mono track. The plug in only shows if it is inserted into a stereo track and you select multichannel plugin->Instrument. It's working totally fine as a virtual instrument.
