Note that PT automatically applies un-shaped dither, when exporting files to a lower bit depth.
The reason being, that exported files are expected to be imported for use further down the line, summed with other files, and require shaped dither to be applied. In such situations, using shaped dither on the original file export, and then adding further rounds of shaped dither will increasingly cause the dither noise to become an audible hiss. This is why double dithering (with noise shaping) should be avoided. Double dither without noise shaping is of no real consequence. It's up to the end user to apply dither during the final bounce, and to choose the type of noise shaping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
