Default ECC Ram Vs. Regular Ram?

Any one have any comments or experiences on the merits of using ECC Ram versus regular Ram.... I've had an ongoing problem with Pops & snaps showing up on sample rate converted sessions on both my Old G4 and New G5 Quad systems & was told it may be ram related....I've only ever bought good quality Ram but, was wondering if anyone has been able to solve a similar problem switching to the pricey ECC Ram...

Cheers Folks.. Tom...
