Tempo troubles

Hi all,

I've just recieved a copy of Pro Tools Essential, and I'm having some difficulties changing the tempo of track. The user guide says to click the + on the tempo bar, but when I do this, nothing happens. 'Meters' and 'Markers' below it both pop up with a window when I click their +, but with 'Tempo', nothing happens. Anyone know what's causing this?

Any help would be much appreciated.
