Serge, thanks a bunch for that invaluable tip! I must admit that I haven't read the MC Pro manual in a few years.
However, it does not change the fact that the initial appset should be laid out better than it is.

Also: there are a hell of a lot of typos in the function names and such in the MC edit page.

Steven,

I'm glad I could help!

I do agree that there is room for improvement . But it's going to be really hard for Avid to make usersets that fits everybody's needs. I learned that many years ago when I was choosing the music at a party.

With the copy and paste shortcuts, you can customize the softkeys without any compromise and save them into different appsets for different tasks such as : Mixing appset, Recording appset, Sound editing, Dialog editing appset etc...

This is what i call flexibility.

Regarding typos, I do so many typos myself that I 'm not allowed to talk about typos...

On the System 5 MC, you can hold the "wave" key from any fader + the top left button on the selected fader channel strip and this fader will control the knob sets of the whole fader pack (8 faders module). This is very convenient if you want to put the knob sets in panning mode, send mode, EQ mode, etc ... 8 faders at the time.

Every time I start my day, I do this shortcut on my 3 or 4 fader packs so they worked in bank of 8 when needed.

To simplify the process there should be a new preference, something like.

Default "knob sets" control of each Cm408t module to:

first fader/last fader/off

One other thing,

I like to lock my ProTools faders so when I switch from Soundminer to PT, the faders don't move up and down all the time while keeping some other parts of the system 5 MC unlocked so I can use them in Soundminer when switching application.

I have to set this "locked mode" every morning.

It would be great if the system 5-MC could remember the last "locked mode".

Yes, I assigned a whole bunch of soft keys for Soundminer. Not only the Soundminer keyboard shortcuts, but a whole bunch of macros to automate my workflow.
