Playback engine select grayed out

Hi my playback engine stuck in 48, cannot open sessions "current playback engine does not support 44.1..." I tried the reset hold N key and the display of 48 kHz is grayed out I can't select it to change in the mbox control panel. Does anyone know how to reset 48 kHz on the computer or how do I roll back to previous. Also when I change the Mbox as driver to ASIO it crashes protools. Anyone know how that works? Mbox pro windows 8 protools 12. Thanks! Josh.

If you have your Mbox selected as the Windows audio device this is exactly what will happen as it is Windows that is dictating the sample rate. In Control Panel click the "Sound" tab and make sure the default recording and playback device is your on-board sound device and not the Mbox. Pro Tools will then be able to use the different sample rates. You will not be able to hear any computer audio such as music or the internet unless you switch it back, use separate speakers on the output of your computer, or take an out put from the computer and plug it into an input on the Mbox.
