Default Graphics card on the way out??

Strange going on in the studio yesterday and today. Yesterday ProTools crashed twice on me where the graphics went all funny and it locked up. Today it’s now doing this when I select certain plugins. Does this suggest that the graphics card is on the way out do you think.

This is happening on the system that's in your sig file right? I'd go the simple route first - clean out all the dust bunnies inside. Then remove the video card and clean the contacts on both the card and the motherboard and any ancillary connectors. Then reseat the card and see what happens.

Does it always do it with the same plugins?
Does the speed with which you change plugins have any effect?

I'm wondering if the card is overheating for some reason?

Thank you, I had a spare graphics card laying around, installed it and the plugin issues doesn’t happen.

As for the over heating thing. When I made that video I’d only just booted up the Mac

I'd say the initial card is on it's last legs. One last test before you relegate it to the trash heap - put it back in and see if it keeps doing the same thing. It could be a case of the edge contacts cleaned themselves a bit. I've seen weird stuff like that before.

I’ve worked out it only makes them graphics issue when displaying the values on the c24 desk.
