Digi 002 & Pro Tools 7 LE Install Questions?

Hello everyone,

I'm interested in replacing my Powerbook G4 17" 1.33 model for the new Power Mac DualCore 2.3.

I would be using the DualCore 2.3 with my existing setup, which consists of the Digi 002, 2 External Firewire drives (one for Audio and the other for Sounds and Loop storage), Pro Tools LE 7, Live 5, Reason 3, etc.

I recently purchased Pro Tools LE 7 and would like to do a fresh install (so to speak) on to the DualCore 2.3. I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping you guys could help me with. First, when I install Pro Tools LE 7, will it also update the Firmware in the Digi 002 (I was running 6.9.2 cs3 on my Powerbook). Second, will I be be able to open Sessions from previous LE 6.x's version (these sessions were simple 24 track tape tranfers to Pro Tools LE with no plug ins used, etc...) in Pro Tools LE 7. And lastly, I wanted to know if the latest versions of Live and Reason are compatible with the latest version of LE 7.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The new Macs are NOT PRO TOOLS COMPATIBLE and won't be for some time. Save your money.

The G5 Dual-Core 2.3 is compatible. It's only the new Mactels that aren't. See the compatibility docs. In terms of the firmware update, that may be a question for Digi tech support.

In answer to your query, yes (it will ask you to update the firmware the first time you launch Pro Tools), yes and yes.
