2018 crashing

i just installed 2018.1 HD and when i try to open sessions started several years ago, but updated recently with PT 12.7, CRASH! I'm able to open more recent sessions, also saved with PT 12.7. I uninstalled and re-installed, trashed pref - but same result. Anyone else experience this?
