Default 6 second delay before recording begins

Hi. When I press record in pro tools 12.8 there is about a 6 second delay before the recording begins and a delay after the recording stops before the waveform appears. It doesn't seem to be related to the pre-roll because that was deactivated in the transport window.
Actually another frustrating thing is the pre-roll function does not work!

PC, p6T motherboard. intel Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz 2.67GHz windows 7 ultimate service pack 1, 64 bit,10Gigs RAM, Focusrite scarlett 18i20, Pro Tools 12.8

not sure about your 6 second thing .. unless you are using video and you have the LOngest Startup delay for video selected ..

not a PC guy so can't help there ..

could use a bit more info as far as the Pre-Roll thing .. are you at the beginning of the session or ??

Not sure about that motherboard's chipset, X58, Socket 1366, with Pro Tools.

10 gb of RAM is a strange configuration.

Have you done all the Avid optimizations? Do you have a CD or DVD in an optical drive?

See the "Help Us Help" you link above the forum and try the troubleshooting suggestions there and also post a Sandra Report.

hi. definitely not using video.
when i tried setting the preroll in the transport window for a punch in. the 6 second delay before recording happened but no pre-roll. Of course not at the beginning of the track. it was for a punch in.
I never had any issues like this with pro tools 8 LE. but I want to use pro tools on my new 64 bit OS

never had an issue with 10Gig ram with pro tools 8 LE. The motherboard can take up to 12Gigs of RAM. Somehow I doubt that 2 more gigs would make a difference.
I am not sure what you mean by AVID optimizations. I don't have a cd or dvd in an optical drive

Hi ! I second john , the 10gb its a little strange at least for me . And as The Weed suggested please do the optimizations for you OS on windows . You can also tweak your Bios for better performance . For windows 7 install the lastest updates .

I noticed. Regard my message as an error.

Do you by chance have "Count Off" enabled in your MIDI controls?
