Default 002 Not supported OR recognized in PT11

Hi out there:

I read that the 002 rack was not going to be supported in PT11 from the website but also read in Mike Collins' book Pro Tools 11 that it should still work. I just loaded up PT11 on my Macbook Pro and it's not being recognized. PT10 sees it and it works fine.

Am I missing a driver somewhere? Thoughts? As much as I'd like to upgrade to an Apollo 8 I can't swing it right now.

I'm running the 002 controller with the latest version of PT11 with no issues. Make sure you have the 003 drivers installed.

I've heard of some people getting it working, such as above, but also have first hand experience with a local studio here that I do some consulting and sessions for, whose 002 won't talk to PT11 at all on a latest model iMac 27".

seems like a "not supported, but some people have luck" situation.

Thanks folks. Going to download the latest and greatest drivers for the 003 and keep my fingers crossed.

The install worked for a few days then I switched back to PT10 to work on another project. After that, the 002 wasn't recognized. Trying another un-install and re-install of the drivers and hoping for the best.

Remember that you need to have two sets of the 002/003 drivers installed.

The old driver, V10.3.3 (actually the same as V9.03 but updated to allow it to install in Mountain Lion), shows up in Pro Tools when selecting your playback engine, as simply '003’. This driver should be selected for playback in PT10 only.

The new driver, V11.0 if you are on Mountain Lion or V11.1 if you are on Mavericks, shows up in Pro Tools as 'Avid 003’. This driver should be selected in PT11 only.

Whether you are a 002 or 003 user the story is the same ... neither of these drivers work successfully in both PT10 and PT11. You have to install both, and choose the correct one in each PT version.

I'm on a 003 myself, so maybe a 002 user could also add some comment here. Note that of Avid's site the V11 drivers are described as not supporting 002, but that is just because they are untested by Avid.

As far as I've seen in other threads a while back, the 002 will work correctly when you install both drivers and select the correct one in each version of Pro Ools.
