RTAS / Record enabled option

When putting a track into record mode my RTAS plugin is disabled in my protools 8 HD 2 Accel system. I HAVE to use a TDM plugin to do real time processing post recording. With protools 9 and / OR the new native cards can you insert an RTAS / native compressor into a track that is record enabled without the plugin being disabled?

easy.. even place a TDM trim tools before RTAS will do the jobs. very easy work a around. u can use a aux track for input signal then bus to another track for recording.

Just remember that this technique, while it works, it also eats voices. If you're tight on voices, it's better stay TDM all the way.

What this means is you create a track (i/o point for TDM system) then go from TDM world into Native world (i/o point for TDM system) and then back again (i/o point for TDM system) so your mono track in reality needs three voices. And your 7.1 track needs 24 voices. So this trick should be used sparingly. And definetely never ever do a TDM->RTAS->TDM->RTAS plugin chain, it's 5 voices for mono track and a whopping 40 voices for a single 7.1 track !!
