Xpand! 2 as a standalone?
All I can say is WOW. I just installed PT8 & played around with xpand for 1/2 an hour. I was able to get more great useable sounds (expecially pads) than with another other VI or keyboard I've ever used. I really, really want to use this in a live situation. Any chance that there's a way to run Xpand as a standalone app? Dragging my 002r to gigs would kinda suck

Re: Xpand! 2 as a standalone?
It's not a standalone. The mini is a good suggestion but it costs what another good VI would cost.

Re: Xpand! 2 as a standalone?
Yeah... the micro was what I was thinking. But yes... the cost. And just the issue of running all the overhead of pro tools instead of just the instrument. Digi should really consider this... I've talked to a lot of pro players here in nyc that are using Logic's mainstage as their primary VI.

Re: Xpand! 2 as a standalone?
Is there any way to/program that will patch an RTAS plugin to run standalone
Surely we can't be the first to run into this issue |

Re: Xpand! 2 as a standalone?
all fixed with 9 =P
you still need a dongle but it's $40 this time, not $270 |

Re: Xpand! 2 as a standalone?
There is still no way to run RTAS plugins as standalone. At least now with PT9 you don't need hardware, although for live use you'll still want some kind of interface to get the sound into your P.A. system.
But you'll still have to create a protools session to use Xpand. |
