Default PTMP 7.3/7.4 doesn't recognize Firewire Solo

So, I retired a machine of mine that, at one point, was running PTMP 7.3 with my old Audiophile 192. I sold the Audiophile and relegated the machine to lightweight gaming and non-essential duties. It's an old Prescott core 3.4 GHz P4 HT w/2GB of RAM running XP SP3.

I bought a Firewire Solo for a song one day and hooked it up to that PC and in every other audio application it worked beautifully... But PTMP 7.3 refused to recognize it being connected. I pulled out my 7.4 upgrade and installed it and did all the usual nonsense and 7.4 refused to recognize it.

I let PT go for the time being and focused on Sonar and FL studio for my music. Eventually I had to reinstall Windows XP on that machine and decided to give PTMP go. So, fresh install of XP SP3, fully updated EXCEPT IE, install FW Solo drivers, video driver (Geforce 6200 AGP), chipset drivers (intel i865), and several reboots later I install PTMP 7.3

Still refuses to recognize the interface. Hands in the air, I give up on it and move on.

Today, I'm preparing myself for school next semester as stated in a thread in the PT12 section and I find that PT no longer uses RTAS plugins. I have a formidable assortment of RTAS plugins to use for composition and effects and most of them have not been ported to the new AAX format... Plus, I've already dropped a nice chunk of change on those plugins and I'm not about to do that again.

The thought is to put 7.3 or 7.4 back in service with the FW Solo in a more powerful machine (3.4GHz Pentium D 950), but I have to figure out what the issue is between it and PTMP 7.x on XP SP3.

Anyone ever seen this type of behavior?

Default Re: PTMP 7.3/7.4 doesn't recognize Firewire Solo

Try setting Windows to NOT use the Solo as the default playback device
