Default How do I change the order of selections in Memory Location ???

I would like to change the order of the different selections stored in the memory location. I check through my manual but can't seem to find it. You can edit the selection but I can't find how to change its order. The only solution now is to recreate the ENTIRE memory location with the new order that I want, VERY time consuming and impractical solution...Any suggestions/ help !!! BTW I'm on PT 5.0

There are a couple of ways to change the order of memory locations.

1) Use the sort functions under the "name" pop up menu in the memory locations window.

2) Overwrite a marker. If you type a number and then hit the enter key, the new memory location will take on the number that you typed previous to the "enter".

For example, Let's say that you've created 10 memory locations, you now want to create an eleventh but you want it to be numbered 20.

Type 2 then 0 then "enter" on the numeric keypad. The new memory location, the eleventh one, will be numbered 20.

To answer your question, If you want to re-order any of the now eleven markers you can overwrite the number you want using the method above.

For example, if you want the eleventh marker, which in this example is marker 20 to be marker number 1 you would:

- first select marker 20 so that it's location and/or attributes are recalled.

- type 1 and then enter on the numeric keypad. Check the appropriate attributes you want saved with this memory location and hit enter again.

You will now have a new number 1 marker with all of the attributes of marker 20.

Of course the attributes of the former marker 1 will be lost so to avoid that you would want to recall it before blowing it out and create a new marker with a different number and save it's attributes using the same method as above.

Jon,

Thanks for the insight. I use the second of the two methods you mentioned all the time. Is the first function, (using the "name: pop up menu) something new to 5.0? I've been using 4.3.2 for years and have never seen the function to which you are refering. Am I blind, or is this yet another reason why I've gotta step up and get 5.0?

Thanks,

Dawg
