According to the Avid PT update page you need to uninstall your current version, then install 10.3.4

I cant test it as I only have PT9. But here is the info bro

http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/d...-3-4-Downloads

Quote:
Installation
  • Pro Tools 10.3.4 is a full installer
  • Avid recommends uninstalling your current version prior to installing 10.3.4
(reinstall the Drivers for your interface after a Clean Uninstall)
  • Pro Tools 10.x uses a single installer for both Pro Tools and Pro Tools HD
. The installation is the same for both, only the iLok authorization is different
  • See the Pro Tools 10.3 Software Installation Guide for complete instructions

Yes, each version of 10.x has been a full installer. IMPORTANT**** When you uninstall the old version, you MUST also select to uninstall the HD Driver(no matter what version or interface). Having a backup plan is also a good idea(ALWAYS). A drive image or clone BEFORE the update makes it really easy to restore, if the update goes badly(hey, it happens).

The 10.3.4 installer will uninstall any previous version, but I prefer to uninstall it myself. I also delete the Avid/Pro Tools folder in Program Files before installing the new version. Not sure if this is is the best thing to do, but I've never had any issues doing it this way. I like knowing that everything in Program Files is from the newest installation.

I'd wondered why my version had stuck at 10.32 and didn't want to know about anything further within "Check For Updates" (although I'm on Snow Leopard 10.68 on fuly-loaded MacPro 1,1)

The previous updates had been flawless to this point though, but it won't see 10.33 or 10.34.

I think both of those updates need Lion or Mountain Lion.

If you have your system running flawlessly why even bother with updates it doesn't add anything new.

The biggest lesson I learned this year
If it aint broke don't fix it.
Or update it

Agree 100%, but wait...there's more!! Always have a backup plan!. Seriously, ALWAYS! Mine is to use drive imaging and cloning. I have multiple system drives with various setups and either clone or image BEFORE any update(Pro Tools, OS or even software install). Its amazing how often being able to revert to the previous setup has saved the day

Hey Friends

We have a fully loaded mac pro v1.1 aswell that we ran 10.3.4 on osx 10.6.8 without any problem at all so that's not the reason.
