Video Engine problems in PT 11.3.1

In Pro Tools 11.3.0, the video engine was working fine - I shut down the computer - powered up a few days later and all of a sudden, it doesn't work. It hangs with the message: "Connecting to the Avid Video Engine". I have tried updating to 11.3.1, erasing all PT 10 files, trashing the Prefs, but all to no avail. Do any of you guys have a suggestion?

What OS are you on?
I had a similar issue (also out of the blue) and couldn't resolve it.
The only thing that helped was reinstalling OSX on a freshly formated drive. Ever since I haven't had an issue with the video engine (knock on wood).

Yosemite 10.10.2 (added it to my signature now). Whew - that's a tall order but thanks a lot anyway

Finally pulled myself together, formatted my hard drive and started all over with everything. Enormous task but lo and behold: Now it works (Knock on wood as well)

Still haven't had an issue since the reinstall.
