The NSK6500 is in the process of being replaced by the NSK6580. Looks to be almost identical. Check out a listing here (not in stock yet):

NSK6580

If you like the NSK6500, you could check out the Antec Solo, and add a power supply. I also like the Antec Atlas (more sturdy, server type case).

I've been following this thread as well as a few others for a while and am going to be placing an order within the next few days to run my 003 Factory with PTLE 7.3. My build will consist of the following:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor

ASUS P5K DELUXE/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard

ASUS EAX1600PRO SILENT/TD/256M Radeon X1600PRO 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

(2) Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

(2) SAMSUNG Black 18X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 18X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD Burner With LightScribe Technology

Just wanted to see what you guys thought and ask a couple of questions before I place my order. First, can anyone make a good case and power supply suggestion for this system as I can't reuse my existing one. Secondly, I've been trying to decide on an OS either XP Home or XP Pro. I was kinda leaning towards pro as a friend told me he had problems with his 002 and xp home for about a year before switching to xp pro. Of course xp pro seems to be quite a bit more expensive. Have any of you guys experienced issues one way or the other? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Im happy with my Antec Sonata III and it comes with a very quiet PSU 500 W. My theory is that the extra networkservices in XP Pro, that I dont need, would eventually load the system more. The less the better. The arcitecture is the same. Home doesnt support as many fysical CPU as the Pro. Is the limit 1 or 2? I dont remember.. but so doesnt dualcore cpu:s so.. It offcourse supports multicore CPU:s. I have not heard any complains about Home and PT but I have not been around here for ever. And have hard to beleive his problem was due to Home. Good luck with your build!

Thats pretty much the spec sheet stuff and its known to work. I would run XP home. There isn't a damn thing in Pro that (as far as I know) will let PT run faster or more stable. Pro has a bunch of features for administering to workgroups of computers across a network, support for Wireless A, which is pretty much a enterprise only format. XP home will support up to 32 cores. there is no reason to go XP Pro. You are aware that if your building a new computer you qualify to buy the OEM version's of window's. you can pickupthe OEM versions XP Home for 89.00 and Xp Pro for 139.00 at Newegg. FWIW I have my Quad running in a ANTEC NSK4400 case. it's just a temporay case for testing but the Quad was running fine of of the included 380watt PSU. They are 82.00 at Best Buy. Having said that I would look at the Corsair 520w PSU, According to SilentPC reveiw its the queitest one they have tested yet, I bought one and its the quietest one I've ever owned. The 380 Watt in the NSK4400 is in fact super quiet also. For long term use I would recommend something more poweful than 380 watts. There are a lot of good cases out there. The trick is to find one thats well ventlated AND quiet at the same time. At lot of that depends on your budget. I know Shane likes the case on Richards home page. Richard is pretty hip on cases

But I like the Corsair 520 and XP home

You need a 72 inch moniter to show those huge Dverb sessions, the buffer dialog, The CPUz tabs and your forgetting the biggie. the Task manager performance tab showing all 4 cores chugging along at 95%.

You will have to help me punch up mine to 3.0GHZ so I can run some buffer tests for MattP.

Did you ever get Skype set up?

Time for me to call Digi and see what the word on the 002 is.

Keep up the good work Jamtime

Guess I better live up to being "pretty hip on cases." This is an amazing deal right now:

Antec P180B at Fry's $40 after rebate!
P180B

Basically almost as good as the P182, just doesn't have the external fan speed switches and the behind the motherboard power cable routing. Some people have reported getting a P182 in a P180B box, but I wouldn't count on that. Still, a fantastic deal. Add the Corsair HX520W on sale at buy.com and it's a smokin' platform for a Q6600 system.

Thanks for everyones timely replies about my build, they are certianly much appreciated. You guys are doing people like me just getting into the game a great service. Anyways, It seems like xp home is the way to go and thanks to auxsend1 I think I have found my case and power supply at a great price. I'll be placing my order tonight or tommorrow and will be sure to report back when I have everything up and running and have a chance to run the dverb test. Thanks again.
