Default Need reliable program to clean mac/ recommendations?

mac version 10.8.5
Protools 11

Hello all,

After the disastrous MacKeeper experience, I've been shy of trying another program to clean my mac. I read in one forum that it's best to leave the Mac alone and not use a 3rd party program, but I'd like to consider something that would make cleaning the mac easier.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thank you!

Lisa

CCleaner for clearing out clutter. Yasu for a simple system utility. Onyx for a really deep system utility. Diskwarrior for keeping drives tidy.

Thanks Jimmy. So none of these programs will cause an issue for Protools 11? Because MacKeeper was a total nightmare to deal with. Reeked havoc on Protools.

MacKeeper is essentially Malware.

There is really no good reason to "clean" your mac. As you have learned by using MacKeeper!

My only recommendation is to not let your system drive get too full. I use OmniDiskSweeper (free) to easily find the big disc space hogs.

...and no need for anti-virus software either, it can only cause problems.
Of course this is only my opinion from using a Mac for the last 25 years, IMMV.

Unfortunately Omni Disk Sweeper won't work with my version of OS 10.8.5

Thanks Zoff, will take a look at that. Much appreciated!

Lisa

UPDATE!

Zoff, this program is great. I can't thank you enough for the help here. It allows you to easily see everything on all drives. Super fast too!
Thanks again!
