No audio when scrubbing with Artist Control

Weird one.

Just went to try scrubbing with the jog wheel on my Artist Control. No audio. Audition paths defined, using the "scrub tool" works, as does audio with FF and REW via Artist Control... just no audio with the jog wheel.

Not sure when this stopped working for me.

Thoughts on troubleshooting?

It does work but it's very jittery which makes it pretty useless. I never use it. But technically it does work.

Not sure what you’re saying. The jog wheel is NOT working for me in scrub mode. Not jittery, nothing at all. USED to, not sure when it stopped.

I meant that I can scrub but the audio and cursor will jitter back and forth while doing that so it's not really helping has a function. So yes pushing jog and turning the wheel does work but the ballistic is not really helping.

But hard to say because you didn't mention what version you're on.

Hm.

Likely not the same at all. Play head moves smoothly, just no audio. Again, using the scrub tool from the toolbar, I get audio, so my audition path is apparently set properly.

Weird, sorry, no idea. I've even got audio during ffwd/rewind off and still hear it when jogging.

Exactly. NO audio tells me audition paths are wrong, or something else that’s sensible. When any other scrub application works - FF/REW (even via the Artist Control), scrub tool - then the jog should work too.

But it’s doesn’t.

If you can hear stuff when you scrub with the mouse (ctrl-click-drag) it can't be an audition setting. Very strange. Over here it works just fine with the jog wheel and the mouse.

Just so someone can benefit from my misery...

Avid tech support was actually terrific and provided a prompt solution. They said to use the uninstaller and reinstall, including prefs. I had grown to mistrust the uninstaller, as things would always get left behind, to the point that at one point we had a script for an ACTUAL clean uninstall, whenever that was. I guess Eddie and the team have cleaned it up. Whatever gremlin was living in my machine, this exercise fixed the "no audio while scrubbing with my jog wheel" issue.

SO strange. But it's back to working now.
