Default importing SACD & 5.1 cd

Is there a way to import SACD tracks and/or 5.1 cd tracks into Pro Tools 6.4 (Mac) without recording them in analog? Maybe something similar to extracting an AIFF file from an ordinary audio cd using Toast or iTunes?

Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Short answer is no. Most computer optical drives do not even recognize the format making it impossible to rip. This may change or be changing for playback options. But the content on SACD and DVD-A is still copy protected and watermarked. Thus, even if software becomes available to do this it would be illegal as regulated by the Digital Rights Management laws and would never be included in a Professional sound app such as Pro Tools.

Technically...
Just hook up some cables if you really need the content,

but legally...

that doesn't cover the legal/ethical use of others music without permission.

Long answer, too. Try this - Analog out, Analog in, using great converters. So far, your best bet (until some 17 year old from somewhere builds a software converter...). SACD has little to do with digital audio as we know it, and very few tools are available. Good luck.

Thanks for replying.
The music is cleared and licensed. I would never use music without such permission.
I've just never had the opportunity to use SACD or 5.1 cd's before.
