Default Video engine problem

Hey guys,

Long time! Hope everyone is good!?

I tried searching but didn't come up with any useful suggestions, so please forgive me if this topic has been beaten to death...

I'm on Windows 10 and I recently updated to PT 2019.12 from 12.8.1. I'm experiencing serious video engine issues. Most times the engine doesn't launch at all after a long wait. 12.8.1 didn't give me this problem. Is there anyone with this issue, and are there any solutions?

I wouldn't expect Avid of all people to have these kind of video issues? Is there anything I can do on my side to correct this?

Thanks, people. Any help will be appreciated.

I'm aware of the ongoing issues with Quicktime. Quicktime is still installed on my Win 10 1903 system, but that cannot have anything to do with the failure of the video engine to load?

Have you tried other 2019 versions besides .12?

Same here on a mac. 2019.12 is way too buggy for me, I rolled back to 2019.6 which has no video engine issues for me.
If it wasn't for a buggy 'back and play' function I would even roll back to 2018.12.
12.8.3 was also very solid, but in the end I think I prefer the 2019.6 bugs over the others

No Miguel, I haven't. That's an idea...

Hi Farhoof. Good to know it's not just me experiencing this. This VE issue is totally unacceptable. Also, PT sometimes crashes and needs a system reboot. Immediately after the reboot, PT opens automatically without invitation. It's really annoying. I'll try 2019.6 and see. Thanks.

I upgraded to 2019.12 by re-instatement after a long lapse so unfortunately, the only other download I have access to in my account is 2019.10. Is there any way I can download 2019.6?

Thanks, Farhoof. I was able to download 2019.6 and install it. The VE now launches properly.
