Default edit question

If i ran a mike during an entire song in the vocal track how do i edit out the space between lyrics in the edit window. Everytime i try to edit it out i erase part of a chorus or verse. Thanks for any advice.

Use the Selector tool (looks like: I ) Click and drag over the area you want to delete. This area will now be highlighted (black). Hit the delete key, or select Delete from the Edit Menu.

make sure you are in slip mode while doing this. maybe thats why your getting parts of your vocal cut off. switch back and forth between slip and grid mode according to the editing that needs done.

Can you actually see the waveform?
The "scribbly drawing" of the sound?
If you are chopping off sound, you cant possibly see it. Select waveform view in the little triangles on the left side of the track.
Sorry if this is basic stuff to you and I insult you.

In one of the menus there is a thing called "Strip silence" it does exactly what you want automatically.
