Symptoms of hot cpu
Can anyone tell me what, if any, symtoms of a too hot cpu affecting pro tools performance?

Well, if it runs TOO hot, the OS might throttle back the CPU clock speed. This could give you less CPU power available for Pro Tools. Here's a free app to monitor core temps: https://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
Also, you can use Windows Task Manager/Performance/CPU to see your CPU clock speed.
