Default Best M1 mac pt version advice?

Hello,

I am using an m1 macbook air with Big Sur 11.2 and a Pro tools 2021.12.0.

I want to get uptodate with the best running Mac OS on M1 macbook air coupled with the most stable pro tools version.

I use video often and find that video and my current setup are pretty bad.

Any advice fellow protoolsians?

Thanks!

You might get more useful help if you provided some info on the problems you are having now. What format video you are working with etc.

If your MacBook Air only has 8gig of RAM, you’re going to struggle to run any current version of Pro Tools on it with video.

Good point, I have the same problems with any most formats, as i have experimented with importing different ones.

I think my question is more general, not just video focussed, specifically since my last PT OS upgrade (dec 2021) what is generally good stable version for mac air.

I would go with 2022.5
because 2021.12 had some strange CPU problems on M1 Mac with lots of send etc. 2022.5 performes much better on M1.

I work with 2022.5 and OSX 12.4 on my MBP M1 Max and it works very good.
I wait with updates untill the ARA integration is more stabil.

Get off Big Sure and move to Monterey, Totally solid here and it blessed by Jeff Komar at Avid for sure. I was told to stay away form Big Sur, so I went from Catalina to Monterey and both of them were very solid for me here. I will be setting up a new Mac Studio ULTRA coming next week to replace my old Mac Pro Trash Can. G
