Default 8.0.1 is latest version??

I downloaded PT 8 last week, what looked to be the latest version, but then it said it needed a critical update and directed me to what turned out to be 8.0.1.

Now I am getting kernel panics all over again (I went through this back when I first purchased my computer and the MBox 2 driver was causing issues ... from what I can tell that's what's causing the panics again) and the PT software updater says it's the latest version. What gives? Anyone?

8.0.4 is the latest version for OS X.

Which OS version are you running? Which Digi hardware? Pro Tools 8.0.1cs2 fixes the kernel panics with Mbox 2, which is what I'm assuming you're using.

Thanks for the reply ... My system stuff I just filled out but I guess it's not displaying!

Here it is:

15" MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz i7 • OS X 10.6.4 • 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 • Pro Tools LE 8.0.4 • MBox 2

As you can see, I went ahead and installed 8.0.4. Hopefully it'll solve the problem. When I made the purchase and initially downloaded, I think I downloaded the most recent version. But I can't recall exactly. Anyway I think Avid could be clearer how it presents these things. I suspect the "Critical update" needed actually led me to the wrong thing, somehow, and I went backwards to 8.0.1 ... I guess as long as kernel panics stop, I'll be happy. Fingers crossed.
