Default running 2 digi 002 racks at same time?

is it possible for me to run 2 digi 002 racks at the same time, daisy chaining the racks or directly plugging both into the computer to get 16 tracks of simultaneous recording in pro tools?
I want to run 16 tracks at once without a adat recorder.

There are many of us who are running 16 tracks into Pro Tools, by using an 8 channel mic pre "CONNECTED VIA light pipe. Which is completely different than using an adat recorder. Maybe you are thinking about ADAT in terms of using the big all alesis adat tape machine.

This type of digital transfer uses a optical fiber digital communication standard pioneered by Alesis which has become known as Lightpipe. The Lightpipe digital interface has been adopted by other manufacturers as a means of transferring digital data from other types of audio devices, such as mixers, synthesizers, and effect processors.

Spdif is another way of transfering digital signals between devices.

Cheapest is the Behringer ADA8000(under $300). Better is between DigiMax LT, Focusrite Octopre w/digital card, M-Audio Octane($700-1000). Best is maybe something from Apogee or the Focusrite ISA428 w/digital card($2200). The ISA428 has 4 nice mic pres and 4 inputs for more mic pres so you can plug in a few Neve's, Vintech's, UA610's, etc. Remember that the lightpipe input is limited to 48K so you can't do 88.2 or 96K(not a problem for us LE users anyway).

By the way Shawn, you've really done an excellent job with the PT Newbie site.
Both in content and appearance.

If it weren't a sure-fire way to banish it into oblivion, I'd recommend it be made a "sticky" here on the DUC.

Thanks! Hopefully things are easier to find there now too. I think the search feature is extremely helpful. Once I get some time, I'm going to be adding a truckload of new stuff there.

They actually link me from the "Other Educational" links page. (Thanks Digi! )
