hd native omni adat question

Can you run 8 ins and out through adat with the omni? We have and audient asp800 hooked to it and can only see 4 ins.

Where is a good reference for setup instructions for this?

I know the omni limits the amount of ins and outs through adat. Thought it was 8 though.

Not being a wise guy, with all seriousness, the manual. Just google Avid Omni manual PDF. You should get something in the top five links. There is a limitation on the I or the O. I just don't recall. I was just hooking up my Apollo 8 to my rig and I chose the HD vs the Omni for some reason.

Yes even if you have 8io as ADAT you won't see them.

Grrr. Now we need to correct posts, to prevent future reading of wrong information. This could all be be avoided if people would bother to RTFM or search DUC before posting questions (multiple times).

The Omni is an 8x8 interface. 8 inputs... *total* you get to arrange what of all the available analog and digital physical inputs IO is used in that 8. Easily done in the hardware setup menu (I'm kinda surprised folks don't realize that, if they operate an Omni I had assumed they have seen that menu multiple times... maybe this is mostly a surprise for very new owners)... and all well discussed in the past in DUC and in the User Guide.

Indeed^^^ To use all 8 inputs from a lightpipe preamp, you need to first DISABLE all the current OMNI inputs. A better course would be to grab a used 192 DIGITAL($300 or less) and get all the OMNI inputs, PLUS all your lightpipe inputs
